LUCKYRICE Festival: Restaurant + Bar Week

Despite feeling rather average (thanks to a restaurant wacking me with wheat) I dragged myself out of bed and headed to the Buddhism in the Kitchen talk with chefs Eric Ripert (Le Beranadin) and David Chang (Momofuku) as part of the LUCKYRICE Festival in New York. Held at the gorgeous Rubin Museum of Art, it was well worth the effort, the champagne settling my stomach as we all tuned in to hear these two master chefs talk. The subject of Buddist cuisine, ethics in the kitchen and the need for compassion for both produce and the people who prepare it were the main focus. Curated by Tim McHenry, it is one of many events held over the coming week centered around Asian cuisine.

The LUCKYRICE festival, held from April 28-May 9, includes a variety of workshops from dumpling making to afternoon tea and Asian dessert pairing with some of the city's best chefs. A special reastaurant + bar week including special tasting menus from Tanuki Tavern, Momofuku, Buddaken, Matsuri, Eight Mile Creek, The Oak Room and many more is also on offer May 3-9. Make sure you don't miss out.
